Default Swimming in Sac area?

From other trade I see that swimming in ocean ( in reasonable driving distance from Sac) is pretty cold and you won't e driving to San Diego every weekend.
So where you go swimming in summer time (except your pools )? Folsom lake? Tahoe? and other small lakes/rivers?

Lake Tahoe is as far away as the ocean, if not more so. Folsom Lake and Lake Natoma are both dam-created lakes near Sacramento--I know swimming at Folsom is popular but not sure about Natoma (fishing, boating and a lot of other water sports are popular.) There are also the rivers, the American and the Sacramento, that run through Sacramento--both have swimming spots.

There is also a lake at the old Rancho Seco nuclear power plant:
SMUD.org | English | About SMUD | Rancho Seco Recreational Area

It was originally an emergency backup water supply for the nuclear plant, long since shut down (the area now has both natural gas and solar generating plants instead of nuclear.)

Folsom Lake is very popular. There are numerous beaches and day-use places. A lot people also swim in the rivers.

I dont know where youre moving, but waterparks such as Raging Waters and Golfland Sunsplash are a lot of fun. Plus I know Folsom has a really nice public pool.

Most lekly Roseville/Granite Bay area.

We much more like nature, less pools/waterparks.... Are there any accessible small alpine lakes , waterfalls in couple 0f hours driving?

I swim in the American mostly since it is right near me. Sly park lake up 50 is decent but is a little low. Lake Clementine in the Auburn area is another small lake. Further up north I am a big fan of both Whiskeytown lake and Trinity Lake. I also love the Trinity River for rafting and swimming and camping.
