Default Family moving to Sacremento - maybe

My husband is interviewing for a job based out of Sacremento. We are currently in Atlanta and I've never been out to Cali before. He has traveled quite a bit to San Fran but doesn't know anything about the Sac area.

What is a nice place for a family, kids are middle and elementary age. Looking for a clean, safe upscale area.

There are nice upscale neighborhoods for families, but it would help to know what you expect your housing budget to be. Different people have different ideas of upscale. Also would you or your husband being working in the City of Sacramento perhaps downtown or when you say that he might be working out of Sacramento would that mean working in a suburban community in the Sacramento region? If so, where?

Sacramento sprawls enough where depending on where you and your husband are working, you might get different recommendations on where exactly to live.

Also do you have other special requirements? Are you looking for the best schools possible or are you willing to trade off being closer to work or living in an older walkable neighborhood?

HOw upscale is Upscale? I will tell you Granite Bay or El Dorado Hills, but they are WAY out there - so if your husband will be working downtown , it's a long commute.

Plus remember Sacramento (as with any Calif town) is different then any other Calif town, and Sac isn't like the California people see on TV. Plus it's NOTHING like San Fran.
