I used to work at Denio's selling produce. I gotta say that a lot of produce advertised as local and organic is not necessarily true. The prices are cheap though and you do buy quality in most cases. And 90% of the vendors do not grow the produce themselves!

Gotta put in a plug for ours. It is one of the 3 favorite American farmers' markets, according to the American Farmland Trust - pretty impressive considering the small size of the town!

If you're downtown, check out Goody Two Shoes cookies. The women come in very early in the morning to make the cookies. There is always a line outside waiting for them to open. If, and I say If, there are any cookies left over by the end of the day, which is very rare, they'll put them in a plastic bag and sell them for peanuts. These are the best cookies I've ever had, and when I went back to visit a few years back, I bought some of their cookies. All organic, natural ingredients and no preservatives.

Goodie Tuchews is definitely worth it--L Street between 10th and 11th. If "moved" visited them a few years back they were in a different location.
