Red face Help regarding Yuba City?

My husband recently got orders for Beale AFB and we will be relocating there in October. What are some good areas of Yuba City? We don't have children at the moment, so we aren't too concerned with the school system.

We have looked at places there and we've decided to just stick with renting an apartment at the moment since it is only the two of us. One apartment complex that was recommended to us was River Oaks off of Bogue Rd. Does anyone have any information to about that apt complex? Is it safe?

Does anyone also have any information regarding RN jobs in that area? I'm going to be obtaining my RN license in Dec and I'm hoping that I won't have too much of a hard time finding a job in that area.

Thanks very much!

River Oaks is a fairly nice apartment complex. It's a gated complex and it is within walking distance to Tower Market, Starbucks, and Quiznos. I know you said you don't have kids right now, but if that should change, it's right across the street from Yuba City Charter School (for now anyway--I think they may be changing locations though) which is a GREAT school that my kids went to when we lived there. As far as neighborhoods go, the Bogue/Garden/Railroad area is okay. The neighborhood around Lincoln school (Lincoln & Walton) is a nice area as is the Happy Park area. NW Yuba City around the Regency park area is okay. Sutter is nice. Areas that I would avoid would be anywhere along and off of Percy Avenue, anywhere close to the Fairgrounds and Gauche park, and the Clark/Queens area. There are a LOT of apartment complexes off of Gray Avenue in the Casita/Kenny/Melton Drive area that I would definitely avoid--lots of gang activity over there.

I was born in Yuba City and lived there for the first 30 years of my life....we've been in Nebraska now for 8 years and I like it so much better here Good luck in YC though. One good thing about YC is that you are only a short distance from so many things, Sacramento, Reno, SF, etc.

If I were commuting to Beale, I would look for a place in Wheatland or maybe even Plumas Lake. I'm pretty sure the commute is shorter from Yuba City to Beale, but I will warn you that the traffic through Marysville--especially during rush hour times (morning and evening)--is sheer hell. Marysville is too small of a city and not set up for the volume of traffic that goes through everyday. Years ago my mom used to take Simpson Lane to Linda to circumvent traffic, but I don't know how busy Simpson Lane is these days.

Hey dhmunoz! How far is Plumas Lake from Beale? My husband will be working from 4PM-Midnight, is the traffic that bad? Also what are some of the good areas in Wheatland? Thank you!

Plumas Lake is pretty close to Beale and the traffic would not be bad at all.

I've lived there for 4 years and love it. Do a google search of Plumas Lake Life and talk about the area with residents on our community forum.
