Default Elk Grove

Hopefully this will be a helpful resource (please help!). We are considering relocation to Elk Grove in order to purchase a home and are wondering how far north is acceptable without hitting South Sac crime/funk/junk. We are aware that the I-5/Elk Grove Blvd area is very nice, but what about the Bruceville area? Anyone know? We are scared out of our minds to buy in an area that turns out to be unsafe for our kids. Any help would be appreciated.
