Default Advice on Moving to Pollock Pines

We have an offer on a home in Pollock Pines and have heard that it gets 2 inches to 2 feet of snow at a time but usually melts in a day or two. If you know the area can you tell us more about the average snow fall? Also I want to garden with native plants so info in this area would be helpful too. Thanks!

At almost 4000 feet you will see significant snowfall. A lot of your questions can be answered right here on CD.

I don't live there but have friends that live there...yes about the snow...and enough that they have a snowblower to get the snow off the driveway in the mornings so that they can go to work...

...for native plants, there is an excellent chapter of the California Native Plant Society, which has regularly scheduled meetings, has 2 plant sales a year, and is locally politically active as well...

El Dorado Chapter CNPS

In this area, I highly recommend buying your plants from local nurseries, for the most part, because they will have plants that will survive your local cold, your local soils, under pine trees, repel deer, etc. Buying at Home Depot in Folsom, they will have hibiscus and other warm-loving plants for sale that will not survive up in PP!

I once lived in pollock pines and it is very beautiful. I would like to let you know tho that at that elevation the snow last for weeks. So be prepared with fire wood, a 4x4 truck, snow blower/plow and a shovel to dig yourself out with!!! It really all depends on if you live on a city mandated road or not!! Not trying to scare you with this just wanted to tell you my experience!! Happy shoveling!!!

After yesterday, they've probably got about 2.5 feet of snow
