Exclamation considering citrus heights

My husband and I are moving with our nine month old to california. I was looking at some houses in citrus heights. I was wondering if that was a safe town to be looking into, and if you have any suggestions where around sacramento are there nice neighborhoods to consider. Anything is helpul!

Citrus Heights is a decent area. Supposedly after city hood it has improved.
To recommend other areas I would need to know your price range. Folsom, Roseville, Rockling, Granite Bay, and El Dorado Hills tend to be the most desireable for families, although they tend to be expensive.
Also look into Orangevale, Fair Oaks, and Carmichael which are older nicer areas.

Default Just look carefully

There are nicer areas of Citrus Heights and also areas you wouldn't necessarily want to be in. Choose carefully and you may find something you'll like. Definately good shopping close by and it's overall improving slowly as a City.

choose very carefully - Are you renting? I see allot of rental homes over there. And although I think it's fine for a small child - I would not want my child in any of the schools around there

There are MUCH better areas - but we do not know if you can afford them since you gave no range

You can check out the schools on the California Dept. of Education Web site at www.cde.ca.gov and then Data Quest. Choose to do your own report and check the class size, enrollment, and the free and reduced-price meal percentage.

I agree with the other posters, CH has good areas and rough areas. Some of the schools (maybe all?) are in the San Juan Unified school district that has some very good schools, some are better than Folsom-Cordova Unified. San Juan also has before and after school programs at many sites that could save on child care costs in the future.

You may want to also check out the nicer areas of Orangevale and Carmichael. If you want tons of homes to choose from, check out Elk Grove too. My parents moved to CA from IL when I was nine months old too! Now I'm just a tad older......

I've lived in Citrus Heights for more than 18 years and I have seen improvements since Citrus Heights incorporated a few years ago. We now have our own police force. Police protection has greatly improved. A new police services building was dedicated last year. I've always felt safe here. The city has spent money on repairing roads and has done some beautification projects in some areas. Citrus Heights has just about any type of store or restaurant you might want. We have a new Costco, a new Wal Mart Super Center, and also a Sams Club. Sunrise Mall is in Citrus Heights. My kids are all grown now, so I really can't say much about the quality of the schools here. I hope this helps.
