Default Is south Antelope a bad area?

Is this area(Don Julio just north of Elkhorn) really as bad as the crimemap site says - like 100 times the crime of Citrus Heights, which is right across the freeway?

And how about north Antelope?

I can say this about that area. The whole citrus heights, foot hill farms, north highlands area can be really dicey at times and is really declining. The closure of the airforce bases just really hurt that area bad.

What I do know is that most people from that area prefer to get their children into antelope by and large because it is safer and more stable. The antelope high school falls with in the roseville joint union high school district, which includes antelope hs in addition to granite bay hs and the 3 high schools in roseville. This is a reason many people choose to live in antelope.

Antelope is a transition neighborhood between neighborhoods in Roseville and some low income areas in North Highlands.

North Highlands was actually much worse in the past. When the McClellan AFB closed the neighborhood got really bad. As newer employers moved into the site of the former AFB, the neighborhood has improved somewhat. The neighborhood has gone from having lots of meth labs and drive by shootings, to becoming a home for the regions hispanic community. The Mexicans don't speak English very well so the schools are still very bad, but in terms of crime and random violence, the neighborhood has improved.

Most of the homes near Walegra and Elverta are owner occupied. That part of Antelope seems pretty stable. But as you get over to Elk Horn and Watt, the neighborhood isn't as nice and starts to act more like North Highlands.

Its not very bad at all. I live in Antelope. N Antelope is probably the best part of the neighborhood. The "bad" areas, which are not even bad, are by Watt and Elverta, and on the border of Antelope and Highlands. But overall its a pretty nice neighborhood. Just depends how you raise your kids.
