Default Bidwell Street and southern Folsom really grew!

Folsom looks like it literally doubled in size since I left in 1995! I'd expect it to have grown and changed somewhat... but when I Google Earthed the area around Bidwell and I-50, I was like whoa.

That's a prime area, does anyone know why wasn't anything built there back then? Did they need to get the rights to the land, or residents wanted it to stay more rural. It was like no man's land out there when I was a kid. Basically all open fields, an old railroad track, and I think a teeny bit of houses (I bet even those were pretty new in, say '92).

If you were going south on Bidwell, it basically felt like you were "out of town" when you got past the Raley's shopping center. I'm pretty sure that was the end of the stores back then.
