Help me Find a HOUSE!! please...
I know this is the Sacramento thread space, but I need serious help!
I am moving to the area in ONE WEEK and I still don't have a place to live. I am starting to freak out a little. Everything I find online is a huge complex but what I really need is a cute little cottage apartment / house with one or two bedrooms that will take me and my little lovey dog. He is really well behaved and I just want a place that's relatively safe (there's not a high chance of getting raped or robbed), somewhere he can relieve himself without me having to follow him out every time (no flights of stairs or neighbors that freak out if I miss a poop), and where I am in driving distance of Beale. I don't mind doing the distance but I have mostly been looking into the areas of Roseville / Lincoln / Wheatland, though I really prefer the city.
Does anyone have any leads? please help, it would really ease my mind...

Holy hell, have I tried!! But I keep getting the same complexes with different sneaky slogans. I feel like I am just wasting my (now precious) time.

There are very few places I have found that are even stand-alone homes or duplexes. Even some I thought would work out turned out to be triplexes (instead of single family homes) or complexes in disguise. I am used to 'duplex' meaning two units in one building that's attached by a wall located on one piece of property; here I am getting 'duplex' for two attached houses sharing a wall next to 15 other houses that share a wall, grass, and views.
I am confused and SO tired of looking...
If I knew the area better I could look at real houses, but that's just not practical when moving to a new area.

Welcome to Sacramento!
I would recommend you rent before you buy so you have time to see which area you like to settle down. I have a nice condo in the Arden area that I just completed the renovation work. It's a gated community that's fairly safe. It's 10 minutes to the American River, 15 minutes to the famous Arden Fair Mall, and 10 minutes to the California State University, Sacramenot. 20-25 minutes to downtown Sacramento. It's available now. You can check it out here:

You can call John for a walk through.
Good Luck.

Seriously, I'd rent first too, BUT: take a look at Grass Valley/Nevada City! Lots of people from Beale live there and it's just beautiful. A heck of a lot cooler in the summer than Sacto! And right now, the most beautiful fall foliage. It's like back east but without any intense seasons. They're small towns, everyone is friendly, take a look at the two cities (abt. 3 miles apart) and about 20 min to Beale. Check Craigslist and there are rental homes, apts. and The Union Newspaper. Try to find a place downtown in either city. You'll make a lot of friends and really enjoy yourself.

Kikicru:
I live in a 2 bedroom duplex in Sacramento, the neighborhood is located in the Arden area. I believe there is currently a unit available for rent. If you are interested, I will
get the number for you to call and get the information.
