went to try SAM's Hof Brau recently and ordered a roast beef sandwich with extra cut of meat and it was the smallest cheapest , tastless , roast beef sandwich I ever had

they use standard hamburger bun sized buns and really SKIMP on serving size

almost walked out after seeing how CHEAP they are with the meat

my receipt actually said HEAVY MEAT sandwich !!! they gave me a tiny sandwich and call it a large?

I'll stick with Tommy's Joynt in San Francisco

That was never my experience at Sam's either at the Watt Ave. site or the one downtown which, regrettably, became a Hamburger Mary's. Tons of meat on great rolls. If it's really gone that downhill, how sad!

must be the economy causing them to give less portion for more money

I should have gone to a Taqueria or In N Out Burger , I hate feeling ripped off after a meal

I actually regret going to SAM's

too bad, but was it good? We used to love the place, it has been there forever. I never thought they had a huge amount of meat, but what they served was really good...

Yeah maybe you should go back to Tommy's. At Sams Hoff Brau the beef I've been served was always flavorful and the bun fresh. I have always had portions on my plate large enough to fill a gluttonous pig so I usually still have food left over. Of course I also believe that Americans eat huge portions so I feel this way about most places.

you are right about the portions we eat: I think this is responsible for part of our on going weight problems. I know, we eat very healthy, I do almost all of my cooking from scrtach and with rare exception we don't eat junk food or fast food. Yes, I am overwieght; but mostly due to simply eating twice what I need to stay healthy...of course this is off subject. Sorry
