Sacramento Railyards Project one step closer | City Express
Quote:
Union Pacific Railroad and Inland American Holdings have reached an “Agreement in Principle” to a property transfer for the Sacramento Railyards. A final agreement is anticipated to be reached later this summer. Both Congresswoman Doris Matsui and State Senator Darrell Steinberg played a personal role in advancing these discussions. This is considered one of the final matters to be resolved for Inland American to be able to sell the property to a master developer, Downtown Railyards Venture (Larry Kelley).

Does anybody have any renderings of Railyards Blvd? Meaning including buildings, lightning, etc.

It looks like the sidewalks are poured for the street and they have those stupid "curb out" cuts or whatever it's called in the street every 5 car lengths or so.

EDIT:

Also, is this street suppose to just dead end at I-5?

i find it sad and very despicable that the mayer (ex kings player -on the hook?-) and city counsel want to destroy history.

should rebuild these buildings and promote them for small businesses to rent space in. dam the big money (like the sac kings privet company) that gives money in a bag in the back rooms.

promote jobs, history, living,

not the very rich fat pocket sports owners.

Nothing will happen with the railyards. The land is super toxic and too expensive to clean up carcinogenic biocides.

If the arena really takes off maybe a developer would buy the land and build luxury high rise condos for millionaires?

Or crappy bad housing like old FEMA trailers for homeless and really poor people. The working class and middle class and working poor will get forced out of rentals in downtown and midtown when the new stadium opens. To prevent this creating massive numbers of new homeless maybe old Hurricane Katrina FEMA trailers will be plopped onto the railyard as affordable housing for displaced 99%.

I lived in Sacramento 20 years and K street is still full of urinating drunks who have not had a bath in 20 years. The only change on K street mall is some bars and restaurants but still the bleak dead zone I first saw in 1994 when I moved here. The new arena might bring in more bars and discos to K street but that is the last thing we need.

Toxic cleanup is already underway and mostly complete. It's being done--it just takes a long time, and it doesn't look like anything but moving around piles of dirt, which is why people think "nothing" is happening. But now there is a lot of physical stuff happening: bridges, roads, infrastructure. All of which is necessary before buildings can rise. The first two will probably be the new county courthouse, and at least one new residential building. It will be low-income housing of some sort, as funding for it was provided by the bond money that provided a lot of the infrastructure. And of course there are the existing Shops buildings--once the westernmost two get transferred to Parks they can start turning them into a museum, as for the rest, we'll see what the new owner has in mind...
