I moved from Central Florida to Natomas.
Don't do it. If you're choosing a Sacramento area home, make it Roseville. Even North Natomas is starting to get rundown.. there's a lot of brand new stores, but as expensive as it is here, I'll pay another $100 a month and live in a newer part of Roseville, Rocklin, Granite Bay, or El Dorado Hills. If it were me, I'd stay in Florida my man.. I wouldn't venture out West (to Sacramento, anyway). If you have any other questions feel free to ask.. |

I think it really depends on what you are looking for. I would definately stay away from South Natomas. North Natomas is fine. It is just culturally and racially diverse so if you aren't prepared for that, then it might not be your cup of tea. My neighbors were Sikh, Korean, Russian and a few transplants from the bay area.
The thing I liked about the area is that it was growing, very close to downtown Sacramento and easy access to the airport. It reminded me a lot of Stanford Ranch in Rocklin when it was growing in the early 90s. I grew up in Roseville and yes, Roseville, Granite Bay and Rocklin are more chichi now. It never used to be but over the last 10 years there has been a huge migration from the Bay Area up there. |

I'm considering some of the new condo complexes in North Natomas but am concerned about the proximity of the airport....does anyone who lives there have any information on whether the airport noise is noticable or bothersome?
Thanks |

Don't think it is a big issue

We used to hear them every once in a great while, but it wasn't every day. We were in Natomas Park.

I believe the flight paths established by the FAA lead planes over less inhabited areas and over the rice fields outside of the city limits. I don't think noise from planes will be an issue. |

My (ex)husband worked there for several years, right off of Northgate. It's not a nice area at all. I'd say avoid Natomas altogether. It's pretty ghetto, and it's right next to Del Paso Heights (an area to completely stay out of, known for gang activity and violent crime). Stay out of South Sacramento and North Highlands too.
The nicer parts of the Sacramento metro area are more northern- I'm a mom too, and I would stay in these areas with my kiddos: Roseville, Rocklin, Lincoln, Auburn, Folsom, Fair Oaks, Orangevale, Citrus Heights, Antelope, Carmichael. West Sacramento used to be really bad, but now half of it is brand new and they're really working to remodel/renovate the whole city so it's getting better too (stay south of Hwy 50). But northern parts of Sac are the cleanest and safest, so go for the cities on the list if you can. There are good and bad parts to each of these cities, of course, but for the most part they're all pretty safe. The very very very safest? I'd say Lincoln, Rocklin, and Folsom, if I had to choose. I live in Citrus Heights, I attended school in Orangevale and Fair Oaks growing up, my children attend school in Carmichael, I have also lived for brief periods in Fair Oaks and Antelope, and I have family in most of these cities. Definitely stay north if you can. Good luck! ![]() |

Well...Im sure that my neighbor's house that sold for 850K would laugh at the mention that they live in the "ghetto". There are TWO sections of Natomas and there is a difference between South Natomas and North Natomas. BTW, when we sold our house in North Natomas, we had moved from Rocklin.

Actually, if you don't need to be close to the city I would strongly suggest looking out further to Auburn or Cameron Park/ Shingle Springs or Placerville. They are more like Lakeland or parts of central Florida.Good luck. ![]() |
