Is there anything someone should know about Keizer before moving there?

Crime? Drugs? etc.

Thanks

Keizer is very suburbia-ish. There is nothing wrong with it. It is generally a low crime area but there are some pockets generally in the SE part. I don't think drugs are of particular concern there, but you can call the Keizer PD and they are great about answering those kinds of questions.

The only "bad" thing about Keizer is that Salem-Keizer school district is really struggling and so schools are of concern, if you have kids.

Are salem schools better than Keizer? Are the test scores bad or something else that makes the school district bad? I am debating between Keizer and Salem for my family so this obviously is key to our move as well. Thank you for the info.

No it's the same school district. The school district isn't run well, IMO. There are good schools in both cities, but class sizes are bulging this year and will likely grow the following year when they have to cut another $20m out of the budget.

Test scores are good at some schools and bad at others. Here is a recent article about benchmarks.

Check out S Salem. The highscools have a higher graduation rate. Keizer is okay and definiteley better than Lancaster area in Salem.
