This is my first time posting here. I am seriously looking at Salem for relocation and was wondering how much it snows. I have seen the figures on the internet, but wanted to check with the folks who really know, the people who live there. About how much snow do you get every year?

Thanks.

It snows occasionally. Not really a lot. There is plenty of rain in the winter, but the weather doesn't go below freezing all that often.

However, you've got a very short drive to some lovely snow and some excellent skiing.

Turner gets a lot several times a year, but Salem just a few miles away doesn't get that much.

Salem is at 171 feet above Sea Level. The snow level is rarely below 1000 feet. At a 500 foot snow level salem will see snow. At 1000 feet it might be snowing higher up, but may be melted into rain by the time it hits the ground.

I've lived in Salem for 13 years. Snow that made it overnight without melting has happened 3-4 times during my 13 years here. It snows every year, but we get the really big fat flakes that melt as soon as they hit the pavement, for the most part.

This. Usually it at best, sticks a couple hours or so. You'll get a bona fide blizzard maybe twice a decade. I remember a few weeks of December 2008 were very cold, going down into the 20s during the day even if I remember right.

No there are several. The County shops have some too and so does the state.
