Whats the scoop on the Salem housing market? I'm trying to move there from Bend but am seeing houses being snatched up in a day or two. Is this common for the area? I'm looking for something in South Salem around 225,000 to 250,000. I made an offer on one place coming in 10,000 over asking which was accepted if I pay closing costs. Between that and the high property taxes I'm starting to think the Salem Market is as bad as Portland and Bend. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Yes, the real estate market in Salem and other areas in Oregon have gone up because there are many of us leaving California. I have been looking at the Salem area for 3 years and it is very different today from all the people from CA. with Cash to buy.

Yes south and west Salem are moving very quickly with multiple offers for good properties. We don't have enough inventory and new construction is out of the budget of most people so new builds are moving slowly. We have a massive amount of Californias coming up that don't want to live in a big city anymore, and then we have Portlanders coming down that can't afford Portland.

Anything around the downtown core, south and west are moving very quickly unless they are fixers. East Salem is moving well, but not quite as fast.
