When folks in Silverton want to fly somewhere (a major flight, like across country), I assume they use PDX? How long does it take to drive to the Portland airport?

I am also from Arizona, 50 years now and it is time for a change. Although I am ready to leave the heat, I don't know how ready I am to leave the sunshine..I worry about SAD. I have done tons of research on Silverton and I feel it is calling to me..small.quaint,artsy, friendly...I only hope it is not growing too much...please tell me the sun shines there?!!

I used to live in Salem and I had a job at the United Methodist Church in Silverton (organist). I used to like spe, er, driving on the two lane (213) between the two towns early Sunday morning. Just outside of Salem on 213 is a nursery for hybrid bearded Iris. Cooley's or Schreiner's, I'm not sure which but in June and July I'd have to stop for an hour or so most Sunday afternoon's. Amazing! Do you ever get over there Silverfall?

I did a blog post about Schreiner's which is in Keizer. Since they do the Iris Festival every year. Cooley's is the one on the way to Silverton. Either way, they are both gorgeous!

Also the Tulip Festival at Wooden Shoe isn't too far from Silverton either.
