So my fiancé and I moved to the area at the beginning of April, just in time for the end of skiing. Was wondering if any of the locals have suggestions on where/when to find good deals on equipment? Also do you have advice on specific passes/packages for local resorts?

We live in the Aves so commute to Park City vs Big/Little Cottonwood Canyon is negligible. We skied once at Alta, Park City, and the Canyons so they all seemed to be about the same in quality. Probably like Alta the best but not sure if they have enough terrain to keep one happy with season passes.

What should we expect to spend on a full setup including skis, bindings, boots, poles, helmet, and outerwear (considering a modest budget)? I was told you can go cheaper on the skis/bindings but invest quite a bit in the boots. Any other advice/suggestions would be appreciated!

Lots of ski swaps getting ready to happen. Snowbird one is over today, Rowland Hall's is coming up. Check the yesterday issue of the Park Record online for a complete listing of times, places etc.
Are you all recreational skiers of dedicated? Boots are by far the key part of a ski experience and should not be a place to cheap out-even a 1 time a month skier will benefit from the proper boot, orthotic and correct fit. A few places used to offer seasonal rentals for the rest of the set up. DM me for some ideas.
What about your passes? Go online as some of the best deals for coupon book, passes etc are already over.
TJ Maxx usually has a ski wear sale, especially the one up in PC, several places in town may have some leftovers from last season. I have noticed the last 3 seasons that ski shops are stocking way, way less in hard and soft goods so "waiting" for a sale has become kind of risky is you have your heart set on a particular item!
Good luck, pray for a good season-by the way the La Nina cycle means nothing for us here in Utah so I am not pinning my hopes on that!!
