Thanks for ya'lls positive wishes. I was offered both jobs today! I will be living in this great state in a month!!! And I will be bringing my child, who hs no problem being accepted where ever he goes!

I can't say enough how kind the folks are here. Maybe it's because I don't try to differenciate between Lds and non-LdS. The vibe has been good all over. Not one meany have I met in three days!

Sounds like some places to visit in the near future. Now I'm looking for a place to stay at the moment. The heat isn't bad compared to the muggyness I'm used to. And it sure cools down fast at night.

Austin has terrible traffic, several murders a week, gangs out the wazoo, but is safer than Dallas and Houston.

Austin also has a happenin' music scene, an upbeat hippie vibe, is bicycle friendly, and lots of parks and cool places to hang out.

Stay away from the bad neighborhoods, watch yourself, and you will love it there, except for the brutal 7 months of humid heat in the extended summertime, and it doesn't cool down at night like SLC.

It is the best large city in Texas to live, but I like the SLC much better in every way. There are many nice suburbs to raise families if you are affluent.

Hope this helps, after 9 years, I'm outta there.

Trebek

Unhappy Won't be living in Utah this year after all

Ooops, Spoke too soon. One school, that promised me a job on Monday, changed their mind on Friday (Spanish fluent candidate showed up on Thursday). Meanwhile, while waiting on the contract for the first school to be drawn up, the second school, in Kearns (who I also would have liked to work for) felt I lost interest in them. I could hear back from them but not counting on it.

Oh well, things happen. It looks like I'll be in Texas for another year...
It's not a bad place really, but snow in the winter, cool summer nights, and friendlier people (to be fair: Texas can be friendly, but it's getting a large population), appeal to me more the older I get!

p.s. Any schools in Utah who need a secondary History, Art, ESL, or Social Studies teacher, please PM me at once.

Yeah, the main bummer was that I stopped looking for jobs after monday, and spent the next three days house hunting.

The Lord works in mysterious ways I guess.

Have you tried looking for jobs in Tooele? I know of a couple of openings up there only because my former roommates work as teachers there. Not Salt Lake but still close enough. At least get your foot in the door.
