Hello everybody, Like alot of other people on this site, my family and I are looking to move to the salt lake area in search for a better quality of life. We are currently in houston. Houston has a great economy and plenty of jobs but the life style here pretty much sucks. I am a machinist skilled in cnc and manual machining, I am also a skilled welder. My wife is a middle school teacher. Are there any jobs up there?

Wow really? Over a hundred threads on here about mormons, but no one wants to talk about jobs. What a waste of time this has been.

Sorry you feel that way. City Data is very helpful, but maybe no one on here actually knows of any openings for a machinist or welding.

You could check the paper for any listings...
www.sltrib.com

You could check Workforce services job board

https://jobs.utah.gov/jsp/utahjobs/s...arch/search.do

I just did a quick search using both of those occupations and came up with 88 openings. Not many at all, actually. That was a statewide search, too. So, chances are that no one has replied because they don't know of any openings.

Times are difficult in Utah, too.

Once upon a time... in a world far far away...

I know my company is always looking for assemblers and that we do have a machine shop. I heard SLC recently ranked #20 in Production jobs in the country.

On a side note... I know for a fact they're looking for welders up in ND with the oil boom in the western part of the state.

In either state, there are more teachers than tax dollars though so your wife will have problems.
