Post Good News, Salt Lake City Installs Parking Meters to Benefit Homeless.

Last week, Salt Lake City launched an innovative program in an effort to address the needs of the city's homeless population. Now people can support the homeless by putting their spare change into shiny, red parking meters that will be installed throughout the city.

What a waste of money and sidewalk space. The next headline is likely going to be that they're taking the meters out because it costs too much to collect from them.

However, this is Utah. Maybe people there are just waiting for somewhere else to stash their pennies.

I think a private foundation does the collection, I doubt they mind the added cost.

I would rather have the sidewalk space (all half of a foot or so) taken up by the meters as opposed to dozens on pan handlers hitting me up.
