Default SLC Avenues, Sugarhouse, Downtown Apartments?

I'm relocating to SLC for a job in the next week and have been searching online about apartments and homes. I'm looking for the younger crowd, restaurants, bars part of town. I think I've narrowed it down to the area around Downtown, University of Utah, and Westminster college.

Does anyone have any advice on some good apartments in this area? I'll be looking for a 1 bed 1 bath around $800 a month.

Don't know the price range but the Irving Schoolhouse Apts are nice and have a good location.

Default Anything besides Irving?

I am also researching apartment living in SLC (preferably 2b/2b) and Irving Schoolhouse seems like a good option. Are there any other options comparable to Irving available?

Any suggestions?

S.

Sugarhouse is great. There's 6 bars within walking distance and tons of food options. 800 will get you something nice, but stay away from Irving School House! They are overpriced. Downtown is fun, but more expensive, and the U area has fewer bar options. The Avenues are pretty boring actually. Nice architecture but few businesses. Trolly Square area is good and if you insist upon a large apartment complex with all the stuff I think will be nice but never use, the ones east of Trolly Square are better. Just drive through the Neighborhood, you will see plenty of complexes with signs.

But as someone who has lived by the U, next to the Capital and in Sugarhouse, Sugarhouse is the best. It's a mix between the residentialness of the Avenues, with the amenities of downtown. If there's any other questions about the differences you specifically want to know just ask.

(Also just remembered 21st and 21st is a nice area too)

Yeah, Sugar House is great, as is downtown, and Central City is less expensive than both. The large complexes east of Trolley are nice, but as pricey as the CBD and Sugar House. Try the smaller apartment buildings north and south of Trolley---historic ones to the north and some built in the 60s/70s to the south. It's hit and miss as far as quality, but there are nice places available for under $800/month.
