That's just like a mormon to delete a post they don't like, they will let their own post whatever they want but if you're not mormon they don't like it.

Question about what goes on in LDS SLC building
I liked her question, I am LDS and I didn't find the question about what goes on in the big building sarcastic. It sounded like and observation, nothing wrong with that. It seems like LDS people are a bit to sensitive about Non Mormans, its time to get over ourselves and much more excepting of others.

Oh please!....accepting of others?? We're not skinheads or the KKK.
Mormons who live their religion...let me repeat LIVE their religion are the most tolerant people you will ever meet! Yes their are many with chips on their shoulder or whatever that can be stuck up and intolerant but you know what....you'll find that anywhere, any group of people.
And as for petites question. If you had read her other posts you might think differently that is was a sincere question. I'm all for sincere questions but really if you think about it it's not that hard to understand why a church as prominent as the LDS church would have an office building. Maybe other churches don't have any wordly functions????

sorry wordly functions was not a good choice of words.
Does no other church produce any literature for their church or videos or have missionaries? Does no other church have any kind of welfare system??? Hmmm not too sure bout that one.

Wood, the Kaysville area is nice. But the commute from the north is really terrible! It's gridlock during rush hour every day, both ways. The rail system will help, but I don't know when that is going to go in.
We live down in Sandy in the south part of the valley. The light rail is a great way for commuters to get downtown. I don't commute that direction, but our neighbor takes light rail daily and likes it. So if/when it goes in up north you will probably like it.
But seriously, the commute is terrible from up there. Same thing with south down near Provo. Coming across the pass from Park City can be a problem with weather.
The Tooele area would have a better commute and it is a more rural atmosphere. But it would be an hour away from your wife's family. I guess it comes down to what your day to day priorities will be.
If you need a good realtor, I can give you a name. She'll shoot straight about what's what.

UtahRaptor,
Thanks for the information. Being far from family is not a huge issue. Right now we are 27 hours away so being one would be easy. Listing what is most important in order would be safe community, good schools, reasonable home price and a commute no more than an hour. Currently it takes me 30-45 minutes to drive 14 miles so I hope the commutes are not worse than that. I would be interested in a good agent so please let me know.

In answer to your question nothing goes on there that does not go on in any large international organization. People send and receive mail, answer and make phone calls, type letters, memos, answer and send emails complete payroll, do accounting stuff, hire and fire employees etc. I am not sure what you thought is going on, but hopefully that explains it a little better. Frankly I do not see what difference it makes how large the Church HQ is. There are over 11 million members world wide so it only stands to reason that you would need a large building in which to house the large number of employees needed to run an organization of this size. The Roman Catholic Church has 76 million members world wide. Their primary office space is the The Vatican. It is 108.7 square acres and has its own standing army separate from the Italian Army that only answers to the Pope. The Swiss Guard.
I think you will find that most large religious organizations find it necessary to have some sort of centralized office complex to maintain employees etc. especially Churchs of these sizes. I hope this answers your question.

Dude, why the hate? You immediately assume that post is negative to your church? ! Come on. Let it rest. You really do not need more controversy towards your religion. Isn't there enough?

Ok.... this might be off the subject... delete it if you must.... but the word MORMON. It gets spelled MormAn, way too much. It is M-O-R-M-O-N. Just something that was bothering me. Don't worry, I am not a troll trying to cause a problem!!
