My family and I are also planning to move to Daybreak. We were thinking that we would like to rent for a year and have a house built for us. Now that I am looking however, finding a rental in Daybreak seems to be a bit of a nightmare. Are we better off waiting until we have a house waiting and ready, or does anyone know of another resource for rentals in Daybreak?
Hello.. I started my own SLC location thread; however, I have a specific question related to Daybreak. I haven't had time to visit the area yet but all of the amenities sound like the place I'm looking for.
The main issue that I'm trying to understand is going to be my commute time to work. I've taken a position by SLC airport and MapQuest shows the shortest route using Bangerter Hwy (154). It shows total commute 19 miles and right at 25 minutes. Can anyone validate this time estimate and also if it sounds consistent with traveling during work hour commute times? Also is Bangerter a true highway or does it have traffic lights every block?

That sounds about right. BUT... that time estimate is when traffic is good and there are no accidents, etc. Yes, Bangerter has lights at (almost) every cross-street. It would most likely be the fastest route to work.
Daybreak has strict rental policies designed to discourage rental units. I believe (but I'm not 100 percent sure) that an owner has to live in the home at least one year before renting it out. Unfortunately, I don't know if any rental resources other than KSL.com and Craig's List.
I really don't like Bangerter on the north end as above 7200 S. It seems like it backs up much more than on the south end. The lights are closer together and change more frequently. It's frustrating, because if they would have built it as a true freeway from the beginning, it would save so much in wasted time and gas now. But the good news is they are starting the new mountain view corridor this spring. It will run near daybreak to 5400 S., and should alleviate some of the pressure on Bangerter. Eventually it will connect the whole way up to near the airport.

Thank you!!

We had no problem finding a rental in daybreak, I think this is actually a good time of year. The only rules are in the newer sections but we saw several rentals there when we were looking. I just saw people move out behind us and I heard another one near will be opening up soon.
KSL is the best way to search but once we found Adam Moderator cut: can't post other RE sites we worked with him the most. I think he is the agent on the house behind us, he is easy to work with.
It is a great place to live, we love it. Keep us posted.

Daybreak is nice, but it won't be in a couple of years. The West side of city tends to start of nice, but after a few years it really goes down hill. West Valley is the worst and the type of living that use to be nice at about 7200s has turned into West Valley 2.0
Seeing daybreak has a big HOA, I don't see that happening. But you do have a point about the 'west side' creeping south. But you know, this is how a lot of suburbs are. They're cheap so people buy, then they realize the commute and distance from the city is too far and try to get closer.

Not sure how long you'll be in the area, but they're building a west-side freeway, dubbed the Mountain View Corridor , that will run right through there. As well as light-rail that will go through daybreak, and through the airport.
Well I dont live there anymore, but you are welcome. I married and moved out of Utah, and to be honest, Daybreak didn;t end up being as good as it started out. As soon as neighbors found out I was single, divorced and had kids at home, they became very distant and wouldnt allow my kids to babysit/visit, etc. I actually had a neighbor say "We cant have your daughter babysit for us because she just doesnt hold the same morals." I was shocked, and finally just asked her if the morals she was looking for were the same ones her husband had, who threw playboy magazines into his trash every Wednesday that fell out for the neighborhood kids to see as we were walking by? Unreal. If you are Mormon, Dayrbreak is excellent. If you are Catholic, they will tolerate you. If you are any other (or no) religion, be prepared. Very hyprocritical community, and honestly, you can find a better home for the same money as the over priced community of Daybreak. I am so disappointed with our experience there. Loving Texas though!! I never realized how standoffish people were in Utah until I moved away- I have neighbors who speak and are GREAT- all the people here are. I am appalled at our overall experience there. Glad we have moved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
