granite has better schools higher scholastic ratings and better sports. although utah as a whole doesn't have the greatest schools i went to both a few times actually and i as a student definately preferred granite. jordan is where a lot of Mormon families (and poligamists) send there kids so although the schools generally have higher funding for stuff the kids are very nerrow minded molded by their parents beliefs....which most ppl unless brn into it do not like there kids learning about polygamy. the kids are really mean and jordan highshools have the highest rates for hazings and what not. that is all i know though hope that gives u a little idea.

. . . although I think both COULD BE better. I read a lot in the newspaper about education in SLC; splitting the districts vs not, more money for schools, already too much money for schools, vouchers, etc., etc.

I personally believe the answer to all of these problems lies with the parents and the students. I don't think parents get involved enough in the issues at the school level. The district level? Well, that's a whole other issue that definitely needs to be addressed - by parents.

My children went to school in both districts and there were no outstanding issues - not with hazing, not with Mormons, not with polygamy. That's why I think the issues should first be addressed on a school level by parents banning together. I also found there were great teachers and poor teachers in both districts.

I also don't believe that more money = better education. Education on any level is what an individual student puts into it - with the help and support of their parents.
