Default Out of state plates in utah

We are moving from CO to UT in 2 weeks and I just renewed my vehicle registration 2 months ago here in CO. Are there fines for not changing to UT plates right away? I'd rather wait until my current tags expire. Thanks!

Utah gives you 60 days before you need to change to Utah plates....

I know a few people that have been in Utah for a couple years and still maintain their residency and plates from elsewhere, so I don't think anyone will necessarily come after you right away. I did switch my plates pretty quickly, and actually got a partial refund of my registration fee from NY since I paid for two years of registration and surrendered my plates before one year. Check to see if CO does that too.

Not sure, I do know a guy who lives down the road from us who has had Oregon plates for at least 5 1/2 years now. We suspect he doesn't want to pay for utahs really high plate and lisence fee. But, maybe they have a home in Oregon they never go to as well. They never leash their dog either. He runs up to us on the other side of the street. The guy is nice, but, some things he does annoys me. Not enough to say anything though. Lol

I kept my Minnesota plates until they expired. Never ran into any problems with it.

I went to work for the University when we first got here 21 years ago. The university police contacted me and told me I needed to change my plates.
