I used to live in Clearfield, but I now live in Layton (which is right next to Clearfield). When I was in Clearfield, my kids were too young to attend school, so I'm not sure of the good/bad school situation there.
As for the good areas to live, I know the area out in Clinton(just north of Clearfield) is building up quite a bit. They have a new Super Wal-Mart and there are a lot of new housing developments out there. There's also Syracuse(south-west of Clearfield). It also has a new Super Wal-Mart and many new homes. I don't know how the prices are, but you could check them out on Realtor.com.
