Smile Marching band H.S.

Our junior high son and high school daughter are both very involved with band and marching band. I read where Sky View and Weber both had excellent bands in the past, but that doesn't seem to be the case now. We are also looking in the Layton or Kaysville area, actually any area north of SLC would be considered.

Any information regarding high schools would be appreciated.

Any thoughts on private schools, which I am also considering.

Haven't moved in awhile, love where I am, so this is a major development!

Davis High School, in Farmington, has an excellent band program. I'd look into it if I were you.

Thanks. I am hoping my two can continue in band since it has been such an active, social group.

I attended Northridge HS in Layton. At that time, they didn't have a marching band, only a pep band that played at 2-3 football games. Most of the students opted to not participate in the pep band. I believe they have a different band director now, which is good. When I was there (I moved here right before my 10th grade year), the band program was awful. I came from a wonderful band program and was so disappointed at the quality of musicians they had here. The students couldn't do the majority of their scales at all. I remember someone who was a senior asking me how to play a "D".

If someone knows if Northridge has gotten any better over the past 10 years, speak up. If they haven't improved, and band is important to your children, then I would not put them in that school.
