I live in San Diego, but we're considering a move to the SLC area next year. I've been checking on the temperatures these past months and have seen a lot of constant hot weather in the 90's. Is this usual or hotter than usual? Do people still go to parks and outdoor kid activities in that kind of heat? When it reaches the 90's here (which happens only a few times along the coast where I am), we don't go outdoors much and I feel like a hostage. But maybe you can get acclimated to the heat so that it's not such a big deal? Thanks,
Janine

Well, between the near constant smell of range fires, insane heat and crazy alcohol laws it feels a bit too much like hell.

I'm ready for winter.

People are very active even though it's hot. Most retreat up to the mountains/canyons or do outdoor activities in the early morning.

It has been a much warmer than normal summer. I have become a hermit I've been spending a lot more time in my basement. I miss my swamp cooler. Central a/c is too expensive and I freeze in the basement and roast upstairs.

I never cools down at night. It's miserable....not as hot as Arizona, but it's too hot for my liking.

I freeze in San Diego since the water is near and the dampness in the air sets into my bones. It's beautiful, but it would take me a while to acclimate.

I rather enjoyed the 10 years I spent a block from the ocean in Half Moon Bay, CA. Here I like the fact it is so dry which really helps me. We do indeed have central air and have the bill "averaged" for each month so it's reasonable to budget for the year. Just a fact of life I guess. I don't like swamp coolers and they are worthless when the humidity gets high (and foster mold as well). I'll take good ole' central air thanks. We built our home 8 years ago so it's got decent insulation. Our house bunnies are downstairs in a large double sized room so they enjoy 65 degrees year around. I guess If I wore a fur coat I'd appreciate that as well. We typically keep it between 68-70 degrees upstairs so it's quite comfortable. I haven't spent a lot of time outdoors this summer. Due in part to some physical challenges over the last 2 years I've elected to have my lawn mowed by some kids so while I used to really sweat up a storm now not so much. All in all its just another summer for me for the most part. I'd rather live in Sequim Washington but my winning lotto ticket has as yet eluded me

Before I left last week, I was sleeping under a comforter with the swamp cooler running. When it's in the 90-105 range' the humidity is 5-15%. That makes it feel like the lower 90s. In the shade I was comfortable.

I am probably not the best person to ask I lived in Phoenix for three years before I moved here. This heat is nothing compared to that!

Besides, I seriously don't mind the heat because we have four seasons here, so by the time you are sick of roasting, autumn has arrived

I am handling the heat just fine, thank you! Just dreading the day when the daytime high drops to below 60 degrees again, but that shouldn't be until about the last week of October. Then I'll just hole up until we're back in the 60s, which should be around mid-April.

I have been having a hard time with the heat this summer, I tried going for a hike Sunday and nearly died. But I am not a fan of high heat, and being 6 months pregnant with twins does not help much either. I am happiest in the summer when the highs are in the mid-80s.
