I will be moving back to SLC after about 7 years away and am very excited...going to be looking on the southeast side for a house. But now I have a 2 and 4 year old so have some early education questions.

The 4 year old will be 5 in mid July, so will be eligible for kindergarten. Here in Orange County, CA a lot of parents hold kids back a year so he would start when he is 6. We planned on getting him tested in SLC when we get there in June, but I wanted to see if anyone here had gone through this?

In California kindergartens expect you to pretty much be writing all the alphabet and reading some to enter...how about in SLC? He is doing OK in 3 morning a week school so far.

Are boys with summer birthdays held back often?
