Oh my bad. Sorry. There are so many different builders that I could give you the links for, but I am not sure which ones are doing the modern style that you are looking for.

You might find some viable options in the 84103 zip code. This includes the Avenues and probably includes Federal Heights and other neighborhoods near the University. We spent quite a bit of time looking in Emigration Canyon and I even tried to convince my wife to buy a lot and build from scratch (no deal). We ended up in the Avenues and very glad we did! We're very close to the convenience of the city and hiking in the Wasatch National Forest. My strongest recommendation is to contact a professional Realtor who can help you learn about the different areas and narrow down the choices that meet your needs. We had an excellent one and it made all the difference.

When we were considering building (glad we did not end up doing that, as it is outside of our area of experience and patience), we came across an interesting architect - a professor at the Univ of Utah (not sure if he is still there). Joerg Ruegemer AJR Atelier Joerg Ruegemer. He had built an interesting residence in Park City that had some of the architectural and energy efficient features we liked. Look up the link if interested.
