Default Best Place to Ski on New Year's Eve or Day?

Greetings All,

My fiancee and I will be driving cross-country from VA to CA after Christmas and plan to spend New Year's Eve in SLC. Depending on what kind of time we're making, we hope to ski in the area either Dec 31st or Jan 1. Which resorts would be less crowded on those days? I just assume stay away from Park City. We were thinking perhaps Snowbasin or The Canyons?

Staying in the Hilton downtown the night of the 31st. Any restaurant recommendations? I assume we'll check out the First Night celebration as well and perhaps walk around Temple Square a bit, time permitting.

Cheers,

Matt

Actually, Park City shouldn't be too bad to ski on New Years Day. My husband & I love Deer Valley. We ski there quite often & just went on Christmas Day. We thought it would be packed, but it was not! They have a limit on the number of people they allow in each day, so it will never be really bad. Another place that you may want to try is Snowbasin. We have not personally been there but have heard that it is good also. If you are going to ski at Deer Valley on New Years Eve, I suggest trying the Seafood Buffet there. They suggest reservations. It is $60/person, but well worth it! Have fun!
