Hi all,

just registered, but I've been lurking the forum for a month or so. I'm probably going to take a position in SLC in mid-January. I chose SLC over other cities because of the outdoor lifestyle. I really like skiing, biking, running, and climbing. Are there any clubs that people can recommend to do the above activities with other people? I would prefer not to be skiing by myself for the remainder of the season, and would like to have people to call up for a ride or whatever in the summer.

I'm 29, so I don't know if I'll still be cool with the university kids , I was thinking more along the line of people in their mid-20s on up.

Thanks in advance!

Stew

For a hard-charging, BC-oriented crowd, check out the TGR forums.
For a mellower, in-bounds crowd, check out the Epicski forums.

Many locals of all ages on both sites (although probably more on TGR than on Epic).

Bwa.... funny thing is nearly all the people who post on TGR also post on Epic. The main difference is that Epic is moderated so if offensive stuff gets posted it will be deleted pretty quickly. Also, Epic has a lot of people who like to discuss form and movement analysis and debate the different schools of teaching. So arguments do ensue over things that seem rather silly.

TGR on the other hand is unmoderated and people tend to create many many aliases and post crap all over the boards so it is hard to find those gems of BC stoke. While it is the general thought that TGR is more of the BC chargers it is hardly characteristic of all members as there are just as many "gapers on TGR as Epic.

Epic is also more welcoming to "JONGs".

Both sites have good info, and I have personally skied with people from both sites. All great skiers.

As for biking, I moved to northern Utah just a few months ago, but this club was recommended to me: http://www.bbtc.net/

Another great resource for trail info is here: http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/
