Can anybody comment on the I215 traffic noise in the neighborhoods directly to the east of I215/Wasatch Blvd? My interest is in the houses just a street or 2 back from Wasatch Blvd, not something a half mile up into Olympus Cove. There are sound barriers and I215 is relatively level along there, so there's presumably little open-throttle uphill driving. My sense is also that truck (semi) traffic on I215 is far less than I80, so to it's mostly car noise. Specific areas of interest are between 4430 S and Parleys. Any comments would be greatly appreciated, thx.

I used to live a few blocks east of I-125 around 3500 South. Noise from I-125 is a concern. Pretty much hear it all the time outside and sometimes in the house.

Mostly just a white noise, but loud motorcycles and truck can make it worse. Changes per season, time of day, and weather. I would check it out multiple times before you decide to buy.

Thanks, that occurred to me too. You've confirming my suspicions. any particular times that it's worst that you recall? I'd figure rush hour, any other times that aren't obvious?

Its kind of random but I remember it not being as bad in the winter but bad in the spring, especially before trees get full leaves.

Weather makes a difference as a front moving in will usually increase wind and blow traffic noise towards the neighborhood. But after storm, especially snow storm, it will be quieter.

I liked living in that area, great views and close to Millcreek and other canyons, but there is even noticeable traffic noise way up in Olympus Cove. So it is just one thing to think about.

Yeah, you guys are confirming my suspicions. As it is, we live near a fairly busy secondary road on a steep grade, though we're semi-shielded by a cliff/hill and many trees. Cars aren't so bad, but motorcycles can be very loud, and it's an area full of weekend bikers. On balance though it isn't bad and we can't hear anything inside (except the bikes). My guess is that it's similar but I'll check it out on the ground when the time comes. thanks for the remarks.

FWIW, I grew up in Olympus Hills in the 60's right after that section of the I-215 beltway was completed. We were about 6 blocks east of Wasatch and 33rd South. As a kid I can remember hearing the constant hum of traffic. Of course there were no sound barriers then but I can only imagine what it's like now.

We looked at a house in a similar location like you were describing, two blocks away. Front yard, NO noise at all, peaceful. Go into the backyard and deck, it was a deal breaker. The constant noise would have bothered me.....we went to look at the house at rush hour too around 5:00/5:30 and it was probably at its worst. Our realtor made a comment that it would probably die down at midnight !
