My other favorites: Eggs in the City (Breakfast on 1300 South and 1500 East), Pho Cali (Vietnamese at Redwood and 3500 South) and Salt Lake Roasting Company (coffee on 400 South 300 East).
I would also suggest you try: Tortas Y Jugos El Morelense, Inc. 2470 S Redwood Rd, Salt Lake City, UT 84119 (latino mall - closed Mondays). They serve awesome Tortas and have Al Pastor that is amazing. Service is a bit slow after 11:45 so if you can sneak out a bit early or get the late the better.

I loved Eggs in the City (Sugar House area) and ate there most Sunday mornings. I also liked Crown Burgers a lot but they are closed on Sundays.

Best Burger: Hires on 400 S. and 700 E.

Best Mexican Food: The Red Iguana; The Blue Iguana; Morelia's on State Street; and El Matador in Bountiful

Best Chinese or Asian Fusion Cuisine (depending on your point of view) The Mandarin in Bountiful. Agreed on Mandarin they have an amazing Peking duck that you must order 2 days in advance of your reservation. The owner makes it himself and will come out to present the dish with pride (only time I've seen that).

Best Seafood: Market Street downtown. Great summer specials and their clam chowder is great although pricey if ordering of the main menu.

Best Brew Pub: Squatters; Desert Edge Desert's Edge beer gives me headaches but Squatters is great. Epic Brewery and Bohemian Brewery are great alternatives but I find their food to be lacking.

Best Brazilian Food: The Rodizio Grill This place reminds me of Bridesmaids dress shopping scene however I do like Texas de Brazil but mucho $$$.

Best Indian Food: The Star of India

Best Omelet: Ruth's Diner

Best Spaghetti: The Old Spaghetti Factory - Been to both Old spaghetti factory (Trolley square) and Robintino's (Bountiful & Millcreek) and can equivocally say that Utah does not know how to properly cook Italian (at least at a budget friendly level).

Best Buffet: The Roof Restaurant

Best Irish Food and Pub: MacCool's

Best Italian Sandwich: Granato's

Best ice cream sundae: Leatherby's on North Temple

Best Greek Food: Souvlaki's

For good old-fashioned (i.e. not "trendy") pizza: Litza's.

For Middle-eastern: Mazza

For Brazilian: Texas de Brazil (but as someone else mentioned, extremely pricey)

For spaghetti: I agree with Mark; the good old chain restaurant, the Spaghetti Factory still tops them all. But I know a lot of people really like Cafe Molise for anything Italian.

For Mexican: I personally prefer Morelia to Red Iguana.

Too bad you had to write this in the past tense. I miss getting together with you.

Thanks, everyone! We have a lot of places to think about - we may have to fit in sightseeing around eating.

The original title of this message asked about local flavours ...

Aside from *good places to eat*, is there really *a local flavour* ??
(aside from *frysauce* and *green jello*).

Some foods are allegedly *local flavor* such as (maybe):
New York Pizza or Philadelphia Steak, or Memphis BBQ ...

I've only been here for two years but I haven't found anything in particular. Fry sauce is about it which is kind of hilarious since it's just mayo and ketchup mixed together (I'm not a fan). Which is, I assume, why everyone just recommended good places to eat.
