Hello

Looking for an area to stay within 45 mins from Grantsville, UT on a Monday, Tuesday

-Crowd 25-35
-Bars, Restaurants (walking distance or short cab ride of hotel)
-Clean, Nice Area
-NOT a Concrete Jungle (not just all concrete high rise buildings and 9-5'ers)
-Monday, Tuesday

If you have any suggestions of an area and or hotels that meet these requirements, please reply.

thanks

Hi and welcome to SLC.

First off are you wanting to stay in a hotel or in an air bnb? For the amenities you are requesting I would suggest that you stay in Salt Lake Proper which is the Sugarhouse neighborhood north, if you want walkability and alot of bars/local restaurants. Salt Lake area doesn't have to much of a concrete jungle effect even downtown, but the downtown area would be a great place to stay for walkability to bars and a myriad of restaurants.

Downtown along mainstreet from South temple to 4th south is the center of downtown, so I would recommend staying around Main street. The area around Vivint Smart Home arena could be a good walkable area it has alot of new development going in, it is on the western edge of downtown.

There are also some great up and coming neighborhoods close by to downtown with some great breweries/restaurants including granary neighborhood, central 9th neighborhood, and 9th and 9th. These are less concrety and feel more like little neighborhoods. They are calling this area the brewery mile because there are now upwards of 8-9 breweries and distilleries in these neighborhoods.

Going a bit further out I call Sugarhouse neighborhood our mini downtown. It has alot of options in terms of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and two awesome urban parks close by. This is where I live and it is a great option as well.

All of these areas except 9th and 9th are also accessible by the train as well.

If you want some recommendations for bars and restuarants please let me know and I can give you some good recommendations.

Mike

Stay downtown. Salt Lake City isn't big and it won't come across as a "concrete jungle." That's pretty much the only place that has the other things you're looking for. You can ride the lightrail system (Trax) in the downtown area free of charge, but cabs in Salt Lake are pretty flaky. If you need other transportation, I'd suggest Uber or Lyft.

Thanks for the detailed response.

I was thinking about Sugarhouse area but it doesn't seem like there are any decent hotels in the area. Can you recommend something in the area that is nice.

Thanks

That is one thing about Sugarhouse right now is there is not alot of hotel options close by. There is an extended stay hotel but it doesn't have the best reviews, and there is a new hotel under construction but it is not yet completed(next year I believe). This is one reason downtown is a good option because it has alot more hotels to choose from.

Thanks for your responses. I am leaning in that direction.

Whatever the going rate is will be fine.

Then I'm going to suggest the Hotel Monaco. It's situated right on the Trax line and is close to pretty much everything you may wish to do downtown.

Downtown shuts down really early on weekdays. If you're a night owl and wish to get something to eat late at night, you're limited to a Mexican restaurant on North Temple and 800 West where you can simultaneously buy black tar heroin, a Denny's on 500 S 200 W with another Mexican restaurant across the street from it, and finally there's the pie hole which is a run down pizza place for hipsters. I eat at the pie hole at least twice a week, the pizza is horrible, but the lack of late night options downtown means I don't really have a choice.

If you're planning on eating after 10 PM, you may want to keep that in mind.

You know, most people probably don't eat after 10 PM. Earlier in the evening, the OP will have a decent selection of restaurants downtown, and there are a number of decent bars. (My son DJs at a couple of them on weeknights.)
