Default East Millcreek area?

I am looking at an apartment in the East Millcreek area and I am wondering if this area is safe? The apartment is at 4100 south and 500 East.

4100 South and 500 East isn't East Millcreek, it's just Millcreek. I hate to say it but you've picked an area with some of the worst crime in the state. I don't know what you're used to, but "bad" here probably means "normal" to a lot of people from other big cities. The apartment complex my dad lived in until last year (Mountain Shadows at about 3700 South 700 West; he lives in another complex now but it's in the same area) is right in that area. It had a murder last year and so far this year has already had a shooting and 3 stabbings (though no murders).

But again, it depends on what you're used to. That's a little bit south and maybe east of the worst areas. Just a fair warning, that area probably isn't "safe" per se, but I wouldn't consider it dangerous either.

I know where the Mountain Shadows Aprtments are and I wouldn't live there if they paid me to. I haven't heard of any major crimes at the apartments I am looking at (Stonehedge Apartments).

I used to live at Spring Meadows which is right next to (north) of Stonehedge.....But I moved from there in 1991. Back when I moved in, I lived in the eastern area (singles) and the families were in the back (west). That type of leasing ended while I lived there. The décor was dated but the bedrooms were of decent size. Back then, I felt safe there and really enjoyed living there for the most part. I haven't been back there since I left in 1991.

Bob, would you put Mountain Shadows in the same geographic area as Stonehedge? I wouldn't. When I lived at Riverbend (39th and 8th West) I think it was considered unincorporated SL county. Perhaps now that is part of Millcreek.

In 2001, I had a friend in an apt. at about 4500 S and 900 E. He felt safe there and liked it. Groceries are close by and there are several ways to get downtown.

Yes it is but, Millcreek was made a township in 2002. The Canyon Rim, East Millcreek, Millcreek and Olympus Cove neighborhoods lie in the Millcreek Township.

True, but it's still essentially unincorporated.

And it's true that 500 East and 700 West are different; the 500 East area is probably safer. But either way, I think all of them are safe for the average person (yes, even Mountain Shadows).

I have eliminated that area now. Does anybody know about Holladay? Specificially at 2700 east and 3900 south?

Although I already got a place and I can't back out now, how is the area around East Millcreek on S 2000 E, a few blocks north of 3300 S? It looks like a nice residential area, and it's just south of Sugarhouse, which I believe technically extends a bit south of Rt. 80? I've rented a very nice duplex there, and I was just hoping to get a little feedback about that area.

I noticed as you head west from there it gets not so nice, but hopefully that far east it's ok?
