Question As boring as it looks?

I've never been, but I have seen hundreds of photos, it looks like white-bread city USA. Is SLC as boring as it looks?

ummmm .... you probably would find it boring. I don't and neither do many other people. If you like outdoor activities/sports, then it's not boring. If you like the Symphony, it's not boring. If you like low-crime areas and wide, clean streets, then it's not boring.

It depends on what your definition of boring is. What's your definition of exciting things to do?

That's because SLC has banned wheat, pumpernickle and rye breads.

From my expirience of visiting the area, I'd say that SLC is not the place you'd want to move to if you're not into the outdoors and everything Utah has to offer. Salt Lake City is for people who appreciate mother nature and all she has to offer; mountain biking, skiing, rock climbing, etc. Utah has everything if you're into that stuff. If not, you should probably just stick with Chicago.

SLC and the surrounding area is going through a huge change though. New malls are being built, and with that comes new restaurants, etc. Hopefully within the next 20 years Salt Lake will become more than just for outdoor enthusiests.

Well SLC may look nicer with more of a metro feel according to the future pic, but unfortunately Utah cant seem to get it right and likely wont. A downtown area is more than just malls and restaurants.
Its also about nightclubs, pubs, theatres and other things that get people coming in at night as well. Unfortunately, the city deters these investors from planting their roots as fast as they even contemplate setting up shop here.
The city has no soul. And it thought that it could take away or even mirror New Orleans' jazz culture.

It is white-bread city USA but with a glass of koolaid as well. Its as boring as watching the grass grow on a sunday afternoon.

It sure is! I like outdoor activities but this place is still in a time warp from the outside world. If you like old fashioned almost insane values that holds this place back from being a part of the modern world, then this is the place for you. It's exactly like what the previous poster said. This city has no soul.

What's with all the stupid, negative responses who say that Salt Lake City is boring? What, do you expect every city to be like New York?

She looks 'boring' until you feel her heartbeat. You gotta get close to connect with things of interest. It is unwise to require others conform to YOUR expectations of significance. SLC is not for you, or you would have something interesting to bring HERE. Perhaps you should move to New York City or Miami, or Los Angeles where there is nothing BUT things of interest generally speaking. These cities have a lot of refuse bins and lots and lots of bag ladies.
