Hi Im A Single Mom Of 3, Im Looking For A House To Rent, In A Nice Neighborhood, Or Country, Good Schools, And Job Opportunities. I Am Currently A Student In Tech College For Marketing. I Am Looking For Reasonable Rent, In Decent Area, Low Cost Of Living, Prefer House, Not Apartment. I Also Dont Want To Be Asking The State For Help With Anything. Please Only Honest Answers, Im Just Trying To Get Some Information On Cost Of Living, In Warm Climate. Tyvm

SLC is not warm for most of the year. We had a LOT of snow this year and it rained, snowed, and hailed today, in the city. The mountains got all snow. I personally think housing is expensive here, but that's in comparison to southern towns/cities. Then you have to spend $$ on gas because you have to heat the house. My heater sometimes kicks on in late August in the early a.m. And it sure was running today. Right now it is 43 degrees - it warmed up some.

If you are interested in a warm climate, you want Southern Utah, not the Salt Lake area. Try posting in the general Utah forum, maybe? You might get some more info on southern Utah there. I don't know much about the housing and jobs down there, but I do know it's very, very hot in the summer, and mild the rest of the year.

I don't know about rents for a home, but 1BR apartments go for 700-1000 in the Salt Lake Valley. In my area, townhomes rent from 1200-1500. Salt Lake is hot from June - September, but can get VERY COLD from October - February. I wouldn't call Salt Lake particularly "affordable," when you factor in that wages here are low in comparison to housing costs.
