A few years ago some articles said the warming was going to reduce SL skiing in the coming years. Did Denver get that same projection?

Many of the best Colorado Ski resorts are at higher elevations than Utah ski resorts so that should help with temps. Not sure how warming will impact future precipitation models in the winter though.

Alta's 8530 base / 11068 peak

Breck 9600 base/ 12998 peak
Telluride 8750 base / 13150 peak
Crested Butte 9150 feet / 12170 peak

Keep in mind these are also much further away from Den than Alta is to SLC.

Some people have hypothesized that lower elevation ski areas are more likely to experience the negative consequences of climate change earlier. However, this is just a hypothesis based on far-out projections, and there hasn't been a diverging experience among North American ski areas/resorts so far. Snow-making technology is to an extent that I find it hard to believe that any ski areas will be forced to close down or reduce their calendars significantly.

On snow days it is pure hell on the mountains. The SLC locals swarm the resorts like locusts so the lift lines can be as ugly as those at Lake Tahoe.

Today will be day 84 for me on the slopes this season, mostly at Deer Valley and Park City Mountain Resort, with a few days at Alta, Brighton, & Snowbasin. You can easily tell the SLC types vs. the tourists.

This is often an amusing topic. Please elaborate! Is it dress, behavior, ski skills or all of the above?

Not only is skiing more popular in Salt Lake City than in Denver, but it is way better. The slogan "Best Snow On Earth" is more than a clever marketing slogan, its science. Due to the Great Salt Lake the snow that falls in the Wasatch Mountains is more dry which is perfect powder.

Not sure where you got that idea from???

Utah hosted the winter Olympics and our license plates used to say "Greatest Snow on Earth".

Having lived Utah and Denver you are going to drive alot further from Denver to ski resorts than in Salt Lake.
