I grew up in North Ogden / Pleasant View and absolutely loved it! If you choose to live there, the premium is definitely worth it! You might also consider the area up in Huntsville, Eden, and Liberty (over the mountains from Ogden).

Good evening! Thanks to you too! Please be sure to check back on Tuesday! I'm supposed to be making flight plans and reservations tomorrow for our visit! Is there a way I can get my personal email address to you (Mountainfaith)? I'd really like to keep in touch with you.
I received an email from the realtor we've been chatting with today. He's to be emailing me some pics of one of the houses I've fallen in love with. Of course, it's just on line and I can't wait to see it in March when and if we get to go! It's an "old" house that is going to need work; I just hope not too much! Does anyone know anything about the older houses in the older area of town in Ogden? I'm a fixer upper type of person and love to buy, fix it up & re-sell.
I'll check back tomorrow! Thanks again Mountainfaith!

Thanks to you too Elder Shawn. I like what I've read on your insight to the Ogden area. I really can't wait to find out for myself!

For new comers to the Ogden "metro" area, Ogden is diverse for Utah!! If you are looking for a non-denominational church.... Alpine Church in Riverdale behind the cinidomes is well ran, and quite close to perfect as a church exp. not to sound cheesey, but the people who attend are from all over the U.S. especially the Chicago area, anyway their pretty open minded, and sinsere... a must check out for new residents that are non-mormon!! My husband and I have lived in this area for about seven years, and it is pretty easy living. The drive in movies in Riverdale is classic!! Advice though get full coverage insurance if possible, w/ uninsured motorist too, because wrecks, and misfortunes on the road are too common. The mountain escapes are nice, Indian trail, and cozy dam. Jerimiah's resturant by the freeway and 12th is a great for the money eat out place. Lots of new changes should be nice. Honda's are stolen on a reg. in Ogden note...get a garage B Sommers

Ogden Regional Medical Center
Hello all,
What a vast difference in people's opinions of Ogden..... I am thinking of accepting a temporary position at Ogden Regional Medical Center (3 month stint), and was curious about housing in that area. Washington Terrace, Riverdale, South Ogden for example. I love to ski, mountain bike, 4X4 (i am from CO now), and Ogden looks like an ideal place to to all that and more..... Any ideas/pointers to facilitate my move/decision.....thx

We moved here a little over 3 years ago, from Oklahoma, and live in South Ogden. I won't speak from personal experiences re: housing, because we were fortunate to find a place when we arrived and have been in the same place since, or re: employment opportunities, because we brought our job with us.
I will speak to what I know of Ogden in general, and that is that it is a beautiful place to live and we have loved every minute of it. We came here from Tulsa, which was also a nice place to live, but we wanted to experience life "out west". If you're not from a mountain state, you have to live it to understand the difference. We love to hike and get out into the great outdoors, and it doesn't get any greater than Utah. Here in South Ogden, we have a nice, clean neighborhood, a good public transportation system, the Wasatch Mountains are 5 minutes behind us to the East, with lots of great hiking trails on both sides of the mountains, great skiing and hiking at Snowbasin on the other side of the mountains and the Great Salt Lake with Antelope Island and it's incredible sunsets just minutes away to the west. To the north of the state is beautiful Bear Lake and of course the National Parks of southern Utah are legendary.
I've seen the negative imagery that some people insist upon on these pages, I understand the rivalry of neighboring cities (Tulsa and OKC are the same way), and I know different people can have different experiences in the same place, but we wake up every day thankful for having moved to Utah in general, and Ogden in particular. We're not Mormons and have no plans to be; we were visited by missionaries shortly after our arrival, they were polite and we were polite and that was that. The majority of our neighbors are Mormons as well, and it has never been a factor in our lives here. What IS a factor is seeing beautiful springs and summers, incredible fall colors, and the correctly labeled "greatest snow on earth" in the wintertime. I would have no problem recommending Ogden Utah (South Ogden, in my case) to anyone as a great place to live.

Yeah, I would agree with the above post. I haven't had time to read everything, but some people tend to dislike Ogden. I also believe it is disliked by *some* in the LDS church - kind of the step child you wish you didnt have. However, there are many LDS folks that live there and are just fine with it. You will get 1000 opinions on Ogden. There are some areas in Ogden that aren't so nice, but by and large, its a great place to live. If you really are considering it, I wouldn't hesitate living there.

I lived in Salt Lake City and worked in Ogden in the inner city. It has crime, but like most areas with crime it is some individuals doing the crime and mostly people just wanting to live and perhaps enjoy life. The majority of Ogden that I saw wasn't too crime filled. There is an area with very expensive houses and the other side that I saw alot of which is old industries and warehouses. I think Ogden is a beautiful place, both with it's culture, races, and beliefs and with the mountains and streams. There is a really cool park with a big skate park in it with a giant metal skateboard sticking out (sculpture). Take care

It's so neat & fun to chat with other 'outsiders' moving in to Utah. God be with you and bless you in your move, too! [/quote]
I am new to these sites; my brother just bought a 2nd home in Park City and my own family is nowhere near that level so I was wondering how your move went and if you like Utah? Did you settle in North Ogden? My husband mentioned Ogden (the IRS is there) and Kaysville (another company he does
work with is there). He is a CPA. We are non LDS but very welcoming and your comments sound like mine would.

From what I have 'heard' (again, heard, not know LOL) Provo & Ogden are highly LDS populated. Most non LDS are 'in the valley' ie, the Salt Lake valley. Again what I have heard. A former co worker of mine is LDS, & has family in Ogden that he visits, & HE'S the one that told me they are 'weird' & 'too LDS' in Ogden. Again, don't flame me, these are my co workers words, & he's LDS!!!!! I'm just saying what I heard. =)
