Ogden is Great!
hi I just have to say Ogden is a great place to live if you understand it. I lived there 20 years ago and moved back. Yes the inner city might not look fancy but thats only one small part of the big picture. Recently the downtown has added an Outdoor recreation center, the Salmon Center that has Fat Cats, bowling, games, sky diving and surfing, dining and a movie theater. More are coming; a waterpark, etc. We have concerts and culture at the Perry Egyptian Theater. There are many beautiful houses on the east bench. Weber State University, and its sports programs are great, there's the Ogden Nature Center and more. Ogden Canyon area has three ski resorts and a lake. Nice golf courses, too.
There is an active vibrant business chamber. visit ogdenweberchamber.com to get info on the town that I choose it live in. Welcome!!

I've been to Ogden once and it did seem to be what people described it as: the "wrong side of the tracks". It's a one mall, one street town with little or no culture. However, it did look like there was a development being built close to downtown, a movieplex and shopping center type thing. It all depends on what's most important to you. The place does have a small town feel.

Lived near ogden whole life!
Avoid homes that go to Ogden High school and avoid Roy. North Ogden, South Ogden are great places to live. Just outside Ogden like Farr West, Plain City, West Haven, Hooper all great places home prices reflect though.

I am sorry you don't know about the many cultural things in Ogden. There is a symphony, ballet, Weber State University on the East bench that hosts many events like Opera, plays, Utah and nationwide events. You may want to research any town you comment on before passing judgement. Like I mentioned you can go on chamber websites like ogdenweberchamber.com

Please pardon me sounding frank, but I am getting sick of the attacks on Ogden. So before you make any assumptions about what a run down dump my town is, please live here for an extended period of time and learn what a great town this is. I'm getting sick of everyone on these forums calling Ogden, "the armpit of utah", and other such terms when they've never actually lived there. It's true that Ogden may not be the best city, and we have a bad image, but to take back 60 years of crime, poor maintainence and bad image will take some time and everybody that cares about this city is trying our hardest to do this but the people that talk about how bad Ogden is are making it very hard to clean up our image. Now please understand that I am not trying to attack anyone on these forums, but I'm proud of living in Ogden and I am just getting sick of constantly coming on here and reading something else that's wrong with Ogden.

Hey i'm also looking at Ogden area
But this will be my first move, im from Australia
Looking at going over for 1yr.
Is there much work in the way of Dental Assistants in Ogden?
Also does anyone know much about working agencies?
Well i'll be visiting next year in April. So as much info as possible would be great.
I don't know why it is so hard to find what you want on the net. I've found it difficult for information on many places in Utah!

I was just there this morning, and we travel through there on & off. There are A LOT of medical type offices there. And with the big population there, there would definitely be A LOT of dentist offices around. It's actually hard for families to pick a family dentist or kids' dentist, because there are so many!
Here's a yellow pages link that will hopefully help you:
Dentists:
Yahoo! Yellow Pages
You can narrow that search down more by putting a zip code in if you were looking to live in say North Ogden or South Ogden. I don't know the zip codes, but I'm sure some on here would.
On, 'working agencies' I typed in employment agency and it gave me these choices. Click on each link and you'll get LOTS of choices. Hope this helps!
BTW, my family & I love Australia from pics and news we've read! And they're good friends of the U.S.
