This is an old post so not sure if anyone even looks at this anymore but i am going tio add my two cents on it anyway. The first time I can two utah I was going through there from Baltimore to San Francisco. I went to the mall to kill some time untill it was time to board the bus. I did notice some stares but also some very polite ppl. BUT, whats stiood out the most about SLC was that SLC is the most beautifull city I hav ever seen the dwn town was so clean In could believe it. A few yrs later i went to job corps in clearfield. I had a fun time there love the snow bunnys there.

Sounds like you had a decent time, with the exception of the stares. That is one thing that would put me off.

One thing that is clearly changing, refugees from all around the world are being brought here by the hundreds. My mom started a non-profit, part-time job working with refugees from Burundi in late 2007. There were originally four or five families she was involved with in this particular effort. Since then, she's been asked to help nearly 50 or so. Their community really is growing out of control, and I worry about their future in this country and in SLC. It's very nice and refreshing to have more diversity in this culture, I just hope they won't be neglected.

I heard that there were some Sudanese refugees settling in SLC.
