Hello,
My husband is considering a job in Salt Lake City. I work in the IT field as a Data Warehouse Developer (Informatica & Cognos). I would like to know about the IT (Specifically Data Warehousing) job market in/around SLC. Do you know anyone working in the Data Warehousing field? Would it be difficult for me to find a job in my field? I would appreciate any information you have. Thanks in advance.. |

The job market overall in Utah is better than the majority of cities nationwide. it has been ranked in the top 5 the last two years for job growth.
With that said there are several concerns you need to be aware of: # 1 Pay....Utah pay is still only somewhere between 92-95% of the nation average # 2 Cost of living is lower than most places, gas is still below $4 per gallon at most stations, electricity/water/gas are in line with most cities. # 3 depending on where you are coming from, the commute here is ranked one of the best in the country, and I agree. Most NATIVE Utahn's do not realize how good they have it and complain all the time. Datawarehouse employement: Galleo Processing is doing a bunch of hiring and I know they have data warehouse positions (BI position most likely). Oracle has offices in Sandy (formally Siebel) and they have a datacenter close to the Airport. There quite of few technology companies here, and several .dotcom, so there should be "SOME" data warehouse jobs. I am not that familar with how strong the DW job markets are in other cities, so I cannot compare them. Here is a link, there might be something that catches your eye.....I am not a recruiter, just trying to help... ![]() I can't speak specifically for DWD however. He had the most success with Monster.com. CareerBuilder.com is a joke! Dice.com is pretty good. |
