That's not entirely true. What's more important is the size of the office and how well your personality clashes or melds with the other people you work with. I have worked with non-LDS people who grew up here and they have the same basic social style. People don't curse, no "hell" or "damn" even. They don't like to criticize you to your face. They don't like confrontation. They like a harmonius, friendly, tight-knit group. A loner will stand out and all the personal questions people ask will be unwelcome.
OTOH, if you are friendly, polite, low-key, and capable of adapting your style to whatever you runinto, you will do quite well here.

That's usually the type of language you'd see during a probation period. But in Utah it's the norm regardless of time on the job. And with unions about as common as unicorns in this state any job security is about as solid as the bosse's mood and whether his son-in-law needs your job.
This is the law in many states, NJ for one, and I think New York too. You can terminate anyone for any reason at any time, except where it could be considered discrimination, or if they fire you on grounds that are false. People can still sue for wrongful termination, although it's probably pretty difficult to prove.

^An "at-will" clause is fairly standard in most companies, especially those of a decent size. This is the statement that both parties can terminate the agreement at any time, with or without reason. In reality, the company has to have a pretty good reason, or offer a good severance package to get the employee to go away quietly.

SLC wages in general are low. Housing costs have outpaced peoples salaries here, I own a condo, rent out an extra room, and I am having to increase rent.
