Cities of Clinton & Roy
Hey, just curious if anyone here lives in Clinton or Roy, Utah? See when we drove thru Clinton, we were by a warehouse, railroad area and didn't like that area. But noticed it did have a lot of new houses being built. I looked up both Clinton & Roy city info & crime stats on this site and they were both even better than our farm community w/little towns out here in the Midwest.
So, are they safe enough family places to live, where kids can walk around the neighborhood or ride bikes, etc. and feel good about that? Are the rec. centers and parks nice to hang out at?
I'm trying to keep open on areas after searching so much on the main realty sites and finding the housing so high in most places. If some great house opportunity comes up somewhere, I just want to make sure I've checked out all the areas enough.
Thanks a lot for your help. Appreciate any advice.

Are 'bad' clubs there?
Ok, I guess I've got to ask the question, cuz only you locals would know this. When we drove thru Clinton and were by the railroad track and a warehouse, we thought we saw what seemed to be one of those nasty type men's clubs. I'm sure you know what I mean. I guess I thought with how conservative Utah is, that that stuff would be illegal there. I know in cities here, they have quickly switched the laws to outlaw any of that type of immoral stuff. And they were able to get one out of a city we used to live in, cuz they watched them like a hawk, and caught them finally. So, they cleaned up their city and never allowed that stuff back.
So, that was our big concern about the area. Obviously it brings more future icky & sad crimes. Please let me know if that is what that place was. As a parent with young children, and just for our whole Christian family values-sake, we don't want to be near that. Just not healthy for anyone to be around. Again, I appreciate your answers. Thanks so much.

Mountainfath-
I don't know much about Clinton or Roy, except they are becoming more popular. As for the "nasty type men's clubs" (I got a kick out of how you said that), they are definitely around. I won't go into details (you're probably saying thank goodness) but let's just say that they don't outlaw the clubs but regulate what goes on. Of course, that doesn't help you because they are around.
My advice is that most of these clubs aren't in the best areas, so you probably wouldn't want to be in the area regardless of what is going on there.

Thanks askslc
Thanks a lot. That helps me already. Just wanted to make sure we knew. Sure wish they would make them illegal. Just makes no sense why they wouldn't.
Oh, didn't mean to say they aren't anywhere in our Midwest area, as obviously the metro areas have that type of stuff here, but the smaller cities have outlawed it. PTL!! \ / Hoping & praying they do that there real quick.
Hey, I just noticed in another thread that you just moved from the Midwest a couple years ago. That's cool that you are on here helping answer other 'outsiders' questions. Did you used to come on here and ask questions before you moved to Utah, too?

I have to echo askslc, those clubs do exist, but they are, generally, very regulated. Most residential areas (family-friendly suburbs and the like) won't allow the clubs anywhere near them. So you'll see them sometimes on the outskirts of town or in a scary area you wouldn't want to frequent anyway. There are also "escort services" and other somewhat shady things if you look for them, but for the most part, you have to seek them out. It's not like Vegas, where people shove graphic flyers in your hands as you walk down the street. Just don't read the back of the City Weekly and you'll be fine. ;-)

Roy and Clinton are Great values in the Utah realestate market. They are priced so cheep due to a farther commute to Salt Lake(usually 30-35 min). Just find the right neighborhood. The shopping is Great in clinton due to a new walmart and its is very close to roy. Schools are good and crime is low.

I lived in Clinton for 4 years. It is a growing area and home prices are going up there, not down. Roy is a little older, and if I had to pick between them, I would choose Clinton.
Just head between 2000 W and 3000 W through Sunset and you will find great housing and shopping and nice suburban life. West Point and Syracuse are also very nice. All of this on the west side is VERY SAFE. I guess there are some areas of Clearfield that aren't so nice, but Clinton, Syracuse, West Point - you cannot go wrong there.
