Where r u moving from????
Depends on what mormons u are dealing with on a day to day basis. I have talked and dealt with mainly mormons from other states that are tranplants to Utah and they seem fine.
I think most LDS are more in Southern Utah (at least thats what I have been reading). Im sure someone else can answer this better.
I know South Jordan is 93% white. U can check out cities on city-data.com and see demographics.

Wow. That is very racist. I'm not sure racism warrants a smiley face. Guess you won't want to live by me. We are white but we adopted a child who is not white. I hope he doesn't run into too many people like you in his life. Somehow you feel you do not want to live in his presence because he is not white? I have not heard that sort of overt racism very often. It is difficult to stomach.
Would others care to comment whether such intolerance based on race (rather than personal attributes) is common in SLC? I would like to know if this is not a place we should even be looking if that sort of racism is prevalent.

This is absolutely NOT the case in SLC. WHile there aren't too many African Americans here, there are plenty of other non-white people and people with mixed families. A lot of Hispanics and a lot of Asian Americans, particularly Pacific Islanders. It is true that some areas are less diverse and some are more non-white. I have never noticed anyone being rude to anyone based on race alone. There are always snobs anywhere who only want to associate with others like themselves, in high school here it seems to be religious but also a lot of classism.
To the OP, you would probably do better in the wilds of Montana, Idaho, or Wyoming.

My neighbor doesn't like it here just because her kids aren't around many other ethnic groups. Like I said South Jordan is 93% white. I only counted about 15 kids that I have seen that are black or hispanic at my sons school. It all depends on where u live. West Valley has the most, IMO, for hispanics.
