Default Moving to Salt Lake City: What are good areas for....

Well I have many questions that would really appreciate some help with.

First of all I am a young architect looking for a job in salt lake city. I am only a little familiar with Salt Lake and don't know where the good areas are. I am trying to find out if Salt Lake has an art district and what the "hip" design/architecture firms are in Salt Lake City.

Also, I really love downtown, as well as Sugarhouse, but I am going to be a recent college grad and won't have money to buy a house right away. Are there any areas Downtown that have apartments in old renovated buildings? What are some good ones?

I am just trying to narrow down the cities that I am considering looking for jobs in and its difficult finding information on the arts and culture of SLC. I know I love the scenery, I'm just not familiar with the city enough to know what it has to offer me.

I would love any help with this!

Renovation Design Group does renovations of houses, primarily older ones. They did my house and I love it! They were extremely busy earlier this year so maybe they need another architect?

There are myriad of old buildings/houses that have been converted to apartments for rent, too many to mention really. The city has a lot of really great spaces to rent and buy that have lots of character. Anything for rent that is in the Avenues, Capitol Hill, West Capitol and SugarHouse will be your best bet for finding what you're looking for.

There are many people that think SLC is a boring city. In my opinion those people just don't look around very hard. We have a great farmers market on the weekends, every niche neighborhood has a street fair, there are mutliple gallery strolls, lots of theater, entertainment, clubs, bars, etc. that any young professional would have a great time visiting. I know I do.

I actually have a friend who just graduated in architecture who was working for a firm here in SLC until recently. If you are still interested in more info, I can ask him about it.
