Bountiful is a nice area with some very upscale housing...also in North Salt Lake. Research Eaglewood in North Salt Lake. Very nice homes with GREAT views. Awesome Davis County school district and you can get downtown in no time at all.

Also research Stoneridge Subdivision in Bountiful. There is also some very upscale homes being built in North Farmington and Fruit Heights. I don't remember the name of the neighborhood but the streets all come off of Compton Road in Farmington. Many nice homes there in the Utah Home Show recently. There are little patches of new construction/upscale homes that are mingled with older neighborhoods everywhere, (ie. the end of Orchard Drive, "The Ranches" in West Farmington, West Kaysville, areas of Centerville) I think to find those specifically you'd need a relator. Anything on the East Bench will have a fantastic view of sunsets over the Great Salt Lake, you will also have more wildlife in your yard and anything above Davis Blvd. means you'll probably need 4 wheel drive in the winter.

Look into South Jordan, or the Daybreak area. It's a new community that is really upscale. It's 20 min from WVC, and 30-40 Min from Downtown. The schools are all new but really nice, and doing a great job with my children.

Ohhh, agreed. Daybreak is really nice with amenities galore. My bro-in-law lives in South Jordan and loves it. His kids go to Charter schools there and have excelled in leaps and bounds this past year.

I am considering South Jordan. Right now I am looking in Holladay, Cottonwood Heights, Sandy, Draper, and South Jordan. I am also strongly considering adding Bountiful to my list, but being south of Salt Lake is helpful if I would like to later expand to Provo.

I went to East High School about 10 years ago... It was very snobby. There is a East side West side stigma out there. If you have $$$ you live on the East side, if you dont you live on the West side. It's a bunch of BS if you ask me. Olympus HS is a great school, however you will find the snobbiest kids that attend there. I would say Holladay would be about the same. Cottonwood busses kids from the west side to that school (East did Too) which brings diversity but also the I'm better than you because I live on the East Side.
Honestly I had the same stigma for years and years. We finally moved to South Jordan over a year ago. I love it! They are building a new High School, and there is also going to be a private Highschool soon.

I lived close to Pepperwood in Sandy It was nice, but would rather not be in the gated community. There are so many homes for sale in that area right now. You could find newer for less around the new Draper Temple or right there off Wasatch BLVD. But seriously Everyone has a serious case of "keeping up with the Jones" in that area. Espically for the women. If you want something more real, and less stuffy look into South Jordan. It's one of the fastest growing communities in the state right now, and It's master planned so you know that 10-20 years down the road it will still be a nice place to live.

The new homes around the Draper Temple are some of my favorite. I am considering South Jordan but my concern is the school district issue, with the proposed divide and tax hike, but I am not moving until the fall of 2009 so I can wait and see what happens. BornToBeMe, what do you mean by "keeping up with the joneses" among women?

That expression refers to everyone trying to out do each other - bigger car, bigger house, etc.

I understand the expression, but I don't understand the "among women" part.

well it sounds like the women are the ones who behave this way. I don't know that area, so it's not my opinion per say, just trying to translate!
