Its not a generalization to say Utah/SLC is the land of the mormons. that is a statistical fact. One that you may or may not have a problem with. Also, when I make a wise crack like "and um MAYBE drug addicts" I have not made any generalization. You cannot make generalizations by using the word MAYBE.
Rather than make personal attacks do either of you two have good reasons for the LDS/non-LDS schism going on in Utah?

i've seen more personal attacks coming from you than i have anyone else. you seem to take it personally when people don't agree with you. sounds like a personal issue.

I suggest you do more research about where you live.

that doesn't sound at all combative, hastily judgmental, or just plain ignorant of you considering that you have never even conversed with any of these people, and already you have made up your mind about them?

Again, some of you arent being honest here.

no one was saying that there aren't problems here. none of these posters that you keep turning your nose up have claimed that utah or mormons are perfect. they just dispute your obviously biased agenda-ridden perspective.

You are either lds or non lds and the two are hostile.

this is one of the things that they are arguing with, stating that this isn't true in their personal experience, and you are telling them that they are wrong. hope you have a plan for how you intend to prove that their personal experiences are either lies or misguidedly blind.
again, none have said that there aren't problems here. all they have done is disagree with you. if you get mad when people disagree with you, it sounds like anger management might be of great benefit to you.

maybe a lot of drug addicts who are rebelling against their church upbringing.

brilliant deduction, watson.

wow. a hostile internet environment. sounds awful. wait. sounds like... sounds like, umm, your thread. sounds like someone that can't handle it when others don't agree with their position. maybe you are one of those mean, drug-shooting ex-mormons that you were talking about.

the church dictates everything they think.

another good one. obviously you haven't been reading the paper very much, have you? you might have missed some of the internal controversy that revolves around prop 8 and a couple of other fairly significant issues. but then, i shouldn't expect you to mention those; that wouldn't coincide with your agenda.
in the end, i think it just boils down to the fact that you need to relax and take a breather. there are plenty of problems in utah–it is populated by humans after all. i certainly don't claim to have found perfection yet.
i will point it out to you now so that you can stop thinking what you are thinking: almost all of the earlier posters that you were so rudely treating are nonmormons.
in my vast utah experience, i have noticed some patterns. most people get along normally here. why? because they are normal. they are humans, the same as in any other city.
then you have the few deranged folk on both sides of the religious equation. you have the few mormons that can't accept anyone not mormon. and you have the few nonmormons that can't accept anyone mormon. they constantly look to find problems.
guess what they find.
problems.
those are the idiots that are continually ranting about how much gentiles suck, or how much mormons suck, and how stupid and brainwashed both groups are.
then you have the people in the middle that just roll their eyes and end up having a nice day despite how much the world seems to be falling apart around those few.
food for thought. from one of those apparently gentile-hating mormons.
aaron out.
